Abstract:

Today's employers are seeking graduates with skills such as problem solving and collaboration. This session will explore how to build those skills in any discipline using creative problem solving framework with Web 2.0 tools.

Extended Abstract:

The National Association of Colleges and Employers identifies seven career readiness competencies for today's graduate that includes critical thinking/problem solving and teamwork/collaboration (www.naceweb.org, 2016). It can be a challenge for educators teaching in any modality to identify strategies for cultivating such skills in addition to teaching content, but the online environment poses unique constraints. In this session, educators will experience a collaboration technique used throughout creative problem solving processes called divergence and convergence as well as explore free online tools for enlivening this technique in an online environment.
