Verna Myers stated that “Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an approach to teaching and learning that gives all students equal opportunity to succeed. Let's dance by designing inclusive digital environments. This hands-on workshop will explore strategies and tools that you can use to empower every learner.

Verna Myers stated that “Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” . Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an approach to teaching and learning that gives all students equal opportunity to succeed. An accessible learning environment is a necessary first step towards a more inclusive experience for all students. This hands-on workshop will explore strategies and tools that you can use to empower every learner. Please bring an Internet Enabled Device to fully participate.

Objectives:

-Alternative formats provide greater opportunity for everyone to access the information they need in the way they need or want it. Participants will identify and use six online tools for creating alternative formats.

-Participants will identify 4 ways that having multiple means of engagement benefits students. 

- Participants will also participate in small group discussions about best practices for implementation and use. 

-Participants will be able to identify 4 strategies for making/creating sustainable, inclusive digital environments.

This will be an interactive presentation where participants will get hands on experience. All participants will have access to the presentation at the same time and will be able to provide real time data/feedback. All participants will also have printable resources that they can refer to after the presentation. The presentation will also be made available in a digital format.
