These concepts are essential for the development an effective and successful a strategic planning project.  Nursing can play a pivotal role on a team for creating positive changes to the healthcare system for the clients, the profession or the healthcare system in general.

A strategic plan is a proactive process that is vision-directed, action –oriented, creative, innovative, intentional and oriented towards positive change for growth. It has both elements of a business plan & financial plan where resources are allocated, and time allotted for the implementation.

The strategic process is the development of a plan of action there are five phases involved in the process and planning.  You will not actually implement the plan but you will expected to develop the steps you would take to execute your plan for action and the tool to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan.

The groups will be predetermined by the instructor and there is a timeline established to complete each phase. There will be a list of possible topics but final approval of the topic is at the professor’s discretion. THE PROFESSOR MUST PREAPPROVE ALL TOPICS. Each group will present their completed projects at the end of the semester. There will be time allocated at the end of each class for each group to meet with the instructor to discuss their progress and challenges. The oral Presentation may be done in PowerPoint format or on a Presentation board. It may be presented on Canvas via media upload. A peer review will be required from each group member to evaluate the effectiveness of his or her group.
