Interactive simulations mirror real-life scenarios in a completely digital environment. Simulations contain elements of experiential learning and allow learners to safely practice decision making where the cost of error is likely to be high. This presentation examines and showcases the development of a rich multimedia simulation using the Unity 3D gaming engine.
Interactive simulations mirror real-life scenarios in a completely digital environment. As a training object, it enables adult participants to learn through interactive experiences. Simulations contain elements of experiential learning and allow learners to safely practice decision making where the cost of error is likely to be high. Simulations serve to engage the learner and maintain that engagement by moving beyond simple passive presentation of didactic content. The more immersive the experience is, the more engaged learners are expected to be and consequently the increased time-on-task should increase mastery of the material. Learner satisfaction improves with a heightened online user experience. This presentation examines and showcases the development of a rich multimedia simulation using the Unity 3D gaming engine and how it can be used in an eLearning environment.
