In the realms of education, neuroscience, learning, and even exercise, research is pointing towards the same conclusion about mindfulness: practicing mindfulness changes the brain at a fundamental level, and supports health, wellbeing, and success from the inside-out. Join us for an interactive session to experience the key pieces of our blended learning Mindful Movement Program. 

Extended Abstract: 

Yoga Ed. is an educational company dedicated to changing education through the practice of yoga. Our mission is to empower school communities with yoga to cultivate health and wellness in children and teens. Through evidence-based trainings, classes, and resources, Yoga Ed. equips educators with yoga tools to integrate yoga for children and teens into academic environments.

Yoga Ed. Mindful Movement Programs are distinguished by the simultaneous implementation of online Student Yoga Classes and Teacher Training to sustainably improve overall school health and fitness. Our priority is creating sustainable mindfulness and movement programming on school campuses across the world. We train your staff and provide tools and support to facilitate a positive shift in school culture, encouraging teachers and students to embody mindfulness through movement. Through the Mindful Movement program, the entire school community will embody and sustain a culture that promotes self-efficacy and healthy living in tandem with academic achievement. 

During this session participats will be able to experience our Tools for Teachers workshop in tandem with an online Student Yoga Class to simulate what our Mindful Movement Program Looks like. 

Our in-person teacher training are designed to empower teachers with the skills and confidence that they need to proctor and lead yoga classes in their classroom. Led by a Yoga Ed. Trainer, teacher trainings are customized to meet the unique school culture and specific needs of participants. Our Tools for Teachers Workshop equips you with a broad variety of basic principles and tools to implement short yoga breaks with children and teens. You will learn and practice yoga tools to effectively promote health, learning, and achievement. This workshop will provide you with a deeper understanding of how to effectively utilize yoga tools to support student learning and achievement.

Whether you’re a classroom teacher, a P.E. or wellness teacher, a counselor, an administrator, or a homeschooler,  our Tools for Teachers will help you to:

  • Improve student behavior and classroom management with dynamic teaching techniques
  • Empower students to self-regulate before class or test-taking situations with yoga breathing and relaxation
  • Boost students’ health and wellness with engaging yoga break

Our job at Yoga Ed. is to equip you with the tools you need to facilitate health and wellness for the children and teens in your life, as well as for yourself. Designed for educators, this workshop empowers participants to effectively utilize five to fifteen minute yoga sessions, or “yoga breaks,” to increase self-awareness and self-regulation for students and teachers alike. Although designed for the academic environment, our yoga breaks can be easily utilized throughout the school day. 

Our online classes for students are taught by Yoga Ed. Trainers who have training and experience in teaching yoga to children and teens as well as adults. Whether on the mat or in the chair, they are designed to improve students’strength, coordination, focus, balance, awareness, and ability to take responsible and thoughtful action. Ranging from 5 - 30 minutes, each yoga class consists of breathing exercises, poses, and relaxation. Breathing exercises teach students how to focus, calm, energize, or center themselves in any situation. Yoga poses improve physical fitness and finesse while engaging the mind. Yoga relaxation teaches students to listen to and respect their bodies’ needs, as well as how to consciously relax and recharge themselves. We believe that the health of your educators is just as important as your students. Yoga classes provide an opportunity for classroom teachers to attend yoga with their students, improving the overall health and wellness of your campus.

During this session, you'll experience a Chair Yoga Class that meets National P.E. and Health Standards, while also uniquely designed to address core needs of educators and their students.

Along with our Tools for Teachers workshop and chair yoga class, you will also learn the broad physical, cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of integrating breathing exercises, yoga poses, and relaxation into the classroom. All activities require no previous yoga experience, extra equipment, or space.
