Extended Abstract:

Health Care Compliance Online is a comprehensive, accelerated Graduate Certificate Program offered by the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. The mission of the program is to equip current and future compliance leaders with the knowledge, skills and judgment they need to champion ethical compliance in a rapidly changing environment. The University of Pittsburgh Law School underwent an extensive fact-finding and market research exercise to establish the viability of the Health Care Compliance Online certificate program as part of their planning process. They surveyed the market place, interviewed employers, alumni and other potential stakeholders. The questions they set out to answer were 1) Is there a demand?, 2) Is there sufficient demand?, and 3) What is the market size? Details of this process will be provided during the presentation.

Once these questions were answered they began thinking about the content, length, and cost of the program.

Outcomes for students were established:

Learn the relevant law, practical applications of compliance, best practices and explore current issues.

Interact with expert faculty—professors from the School of Law and Graduate School of Public Health, current and former federal regulators, and compliance industry experts.

Network and collaborate with your peers in other industries and locations through innovative online applications.

Work on weekly assignments when and where you choose.

Faculty were recruited and collaboration with Pitt Online began. This process will be described in detail.
