Abstract:
The current study intends to explore how to use Virtual Reality (VR) Technology to help students improve their foreign language (FL) speaking proficiency in a low-anxiety environment.
Extended Abstract:
The study first explores the speaking practice and speech function the VR based language learning app Mondly®. Using a survey, students are sorted into two groups: low and high anxiety. Third, half of each group use the app and the other half is not. The two untreated groups serve as control groups. The question aroused is: Does VR reduce the anxiety level in the high-anxiety group, or increase anxiety in low-anxiety group? The goal of this study is to improve the proficiency in the context of VR based language learning experience.
