Abstract: 

Rapidly expanding internet access, especially in the developing world, makes it possible for students to connect from across countries, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ideologies. Through first-person accounts from teachers around the world, we’ll explore how online peer-to-peer learning is changing the way that students understand the world, practice languages, and share perspectives.

PenPal Schools connects students from over 170 countries to learn together! Join PenPal Schools' Founder Joe Troyen and teachers from around the world to learn how to take your class global with one of the world’s fastest-growing classroom resources. Teachers from Europe, the United States, South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania will share inspiring stories from their global classrooms as well as tips to help you get started. We’ll also explore PenPal Schools’ library of collaborative online projects where students from around the world connect to learn about topics ranging from world cultures and sciences to human rights and environmental sustainability. Finally, we’ll dive into the data to examine how these global connections help students to build essential skills - from reading and writing to digital literacy and social and emotional abilities.
