OER is gaining traction. However, many students are and will miss the benefits - either due to ability level or distance. This session will explore OER, its creation and its delivery to meet the needs of all students.
As open educational resources (OER) gain traction for both online and on-campus learners, many instructors and institutions are encountering a number of unforeseen challenges in the implementation and sustainability of these learning-material programs. Pain points around accessibility for students with disabilities, discoverability of resources, levels of content multimedia and interactivity, and time investments can make OER inadequate in meeting the needs of learners – especially those who do not come to campus regularly.
In this session, Kathleen Hayes of VitalSource will discuss ways in which digital OER can be created and delivered to learners of varying abilities and the value of creating EPUB 3 content for online learners.
