Extended Abstract:

Bringing Study Abroad Home and Developing Cultural Competency is a session for faculty, administrators, and students who want to rethink how they "do" study abroad programs. This session conversation describes a study abroad trip to Sydney, Australia with a group of students from Southwest Tennessee Community College, and how two community college professors, Denise Malloy and Dr. LaDonna Young engaged and  enhanced students' learning and cultural competencies using virtual and augmented reality before, during, and after traveling abroad. Attendees will walk away with fresh, shared ideas from peers and a renewed focus on learning on the go.
