This session will address the redesign of Health Science, Math, English and Computer Science courses to include Open Educational Resources while maintaining and improving student learning outcomes, satisfaction and creating student economic opportunity through open access to quality educational resources. Curation process, challenges and solutions implemented will also be discussed.
According to the 2015 Campus Computing Survey, 87% of those surveyed reported that “digital
curricular resources provide a richer and more personalized learning experience than traditional print materials.” In that same survey, over 80% of participants agreed that open educational resources (OER) “will be an important source for instructional resources in five years” (Green, 2015).
Leveraging OER content greatly reduces the cost of learning resources and textbooks to students.
This session will address the Colorado Community College System ‘s initiative for redesigning Health Science, Math, English and Computer Science courses to include Open Educational Resources while maintaining and improving student learning outcomes and satisfaction and creating student economic opportunity through open access to quality educational resources. Presenters will also share the curation process used, challenges encountered and solutions implemented.
