Blackboard Collaborate as a Moderator Certification Tool

Session Time Slot(s):
Abstract:

As online learning expands, the need for effective communication, teaching and training tools will also expand. This is a training module intended to provide professional development for higher-education instructors and K-12 teachers utilizing Blackboard and who would like to add a virtual component to the classroom.

Extended Abstract:

With the expansion of online programs in higher education and online courses in secondary education, educators must create innovative ways to engage learners, deliver content and provide a virtual learning environment where learners can collaborate. Educators must also continue to enhance their technological skills by participating in professional development opportunities, which is vital to student success and content delivery. Faculty will be able to incorporate Blackboard Collaborate Ultra in their courses to host discussions, synchronous sessions and adapt their instruction strategies to make use of the technology. Not only can this technology be utilized in online courses, it can be used in face-to-face courses and instructors can provide a virtual collaboration environment where learners can work with their peers on group projects or as study groups. The participants who complete the training module will be able to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire for professional and pedagogical purposes, improve instructional practice and enhance student learning.
