Which pedagogical approaches guide the curriculum planning process for online degrees at your institute? How can a model support teachers in putting pedagogical frameworks into practice? A comprehensive pedagogical model combining innovation pedagogy and online pedagogy creates a practical tool for implementing online and blended curricula.
Full abstract
Each institute has a preferred pedagogical approach to teaching and learning. This approach is usually well considered in the implementation of individual courses, but not always in the curriculum planning process. This becomes especially relevant when planning new methods of implementation for blended or online degrees.
Teachers and leaders alike need simple, easy-to-use models and templates for implementation of curricula in online degrees. Leaders need to have an overview of how pedagogical approaches are taken into consideration in curriculum design. Similarly, teachers need to be supported in the planning and design process by guiding them in implementing the recommended pedagogical approaches.
Innovation pedagogy is an approach that enhances the ability to innovate and create new ways of learning. A model that combines approaches of innovation pedagogy to online pedagogy, supported by modern technologies, supports the staff in the planning, design and implementation of a curriculum for online or blended degrees.
