Extended Abstract:
Is your university using a one-size fits all approach to online course design? Do all students in a class read the same material, post to the same discussion questions, and submit cookie cutter assignments? If so, your institution may be failing to meet the needs of many learners. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) offers a new approach to curriculum design that creates inclusive learning environments where all students are given equal opportunities to learn. In this session, the design of an online course will be critiqued and practical suggestions will be offered for incorporating UDL principles.
