Extended Abstract:

Can scripting your video lectures make them more effective?  YES!

As an institutional initiative, the Center for Interactive Media at Daytona State College has created a faculty tool set using free and currently available media tools that empowers faculty to create scripted micro lessons.  This new tool set infrastructure that includes the industry standard Media Asset Manager system in an academic environment allows the faculty to easily create, post, and caption the screen-cast content that they are empowered to create.

These faculty-created lessons can help engage students and provide an atmosphere to encourage student success.  In this session, you will learn about the pedagogy and best practices of creating online media content.  You will also get a brief overview of the steps and tools needed to create these simple scripted micro lectures.  Examples of class content will be provided.
