Extended Abstract:

Kadenze is a new interactive platform that brings together educators, artists, and engineers to provide an online education in the fields of art and creative technology. The technology that drives this educational platform was originally used to create a robot orchestra that could improvise as intelligently as human beings. This presentation will discuss how this creative technology has evolved to become the driving force behind an educational platform that is paving a path for arts-focused learning in higher education. In doing this, it will emphasize the importance of fostering imagination and innovation through education, as a means of turning a creative idea into a valuable project within our society, a mission we think is deeply in line with the history of Disney.

Kadenze was developed with the belief that online education is the best means of making a positive, global impact on the sustainability, visibility, and accessibility of arts education. Furthermore, an education in the arts is what prepares students to become innovators and leaders, and to have successful creative careers at global companies like Disney. This presentation will examine the tremendous implications of creating a space in online education that is dedicated to the fields of art and creative technology, and what this means for the future of online student learning and creative education. Together with our partners, we are forming a coalition of the world’s top art institutions, and bringing the largely underserved community of creative students into focus.
