Abstract:

This session will provide a background of the University of Central Florida’s Bachelor of Applied Science program and why they decided to use Realizeit.

Extended Abstract:

The University of Central Florida evaluated a variety of adaptive learning platforms in the spring of 2014. The decision to pilot Realizeit was driven by faculty input. Several departments have participated in developing and delivering adaptive learning courses utilizing Realizeit. The results of the pilot were promising and a team was developed to support faculty transitioning courses to the adaptive learning platform. Processes were developed to make sure that faculty had a smooth transition from a traditional online course to an adaptive course. In this session, we will discuss how UCF has partnered with Realizeit to transition an entire degree program, the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) to their adaptive learning platform. The BAS program consists of fifteen completely online courses, which include software development and information technology courses. The program is designed for students with an Associate in Science (AS) degree and want to obtain a Bachelors degree. Workflows, lessons learned, and data will be shared.
