Abstract:

Faculty development planning is as filled with challenges as it is with good intentions. In this session we will discuss these common challenges and our effort to address them through the Student-Centered Cohort (SCC). SCC is a three-year, online, asynchronous experience focused on faculty dialog and applied learning.

Extended Abstract:

During the academic year, faculty development planning is as filled with challenges as it is with good intentions. In this session we will lead a discussion focused on these common challenges and will share our effort to address them through a program called Student-Centered Cohort (SCC). SCC is a three-year, online, asynchronous experience focused on faculty dialog and applied learning. Each year of the cohort introduces new topics ranging from essential LMS building blocks to pedagogical practices aimed at your goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom. Specific goals for implementation are defined by the participants themselves according to their own needs and priorities.

Having successfully completed year-three with our first cohort, we would like to share our successes and remaining challenges and invite a discussion around defining and addressing faculty development needs.
