Extended Abstract:

Through CTU’s internal research, we have found that students who persist through their first four courses are more likely to graduate. As a result, CTU has implemented specific strategies to support students with achieving confidence and competence in their first four courses. The presenters will share best practices and lessons learned from their experience, paying special attention to veteran, new traditional, and first-generation college students who have unique challenges in completing their education.

Specific examples related to students’ academic and career success will be discussed, such as leveraging innovative technology, fostering an empathetic and encouraging approach, and providing synchronous learning opportunities.
