Abstract: 

How do I know what they know? This session examines assessment and all the opportunities for assessment throughout a flexible learning course. Beginning with alignment and an understanding of how assessments tie to learning outcomes, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments will be explored. We will also explore assessment integrity, authentic assessment types, and rubrics. Sound like a lot to assess? We will also discuss ways to best leverage the Learning Management System and other tools when implementing a variety of assessments in order to keep instructors from being overwhelmed.

We will also discuss ways to best leverage the Learning Management System and other tools when implementing a variety of assessments in order to keep instructors from being overwhelmed. 

Beginning with alignment and an understanding of how assessments tie to learning outcomes, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments will be explored. We will also explore assessment integrity, authentic assessment types, and rubrics. This session will include interactive moments to discuss measurable outcomes, the matching of outcomes with the assessment, and ways to collect quick, formative information in high-tech and low-tech ways in order to keep students engaged and progressing in their learning.
