Extended Abstract:

Has your organization's industry-education partnership process left you feeling overwhelmed or ineffective? Or is your partnering time and effort producing long-term, sustainable results leading to effective workforce development solutions and better institutional enrollment? If not, then your organization may be using more valuable personnel time and energy than necessary – a scenario that almost always leads to burn-out for both industrial and educational teams.

If you have ever left higher education advisory meetings feeling less like a partner and more like you were just moving through the motions, you are not alone. How many times have we quietly thought to ourselves that those advisory meeting details could have been handled via email? We totally get it, but make no mistake. Successful sector partnering is not an ambiguous, undefined process. It is direct, intentional, and productive problem solving through relationship development. Sector partnering done well requires thoughtful and strategic methodology and makes room for not only greater but also more meaningful industry input and voice. If your advisory groups and industry partnering efforts are not as fruitful as you would like, join the Paving Partnership Pathways conversation and begin strategically redesigning your approach. We will ask participants to think critically about their own current partnering strategies and identify missing links that may be creating barriers to successful sector partnering. You will walk away with working model examples from various sectors across the nation such as in IT at Ivy Tech in Indiana or through Advanced Manufacturing in partnership with Ohio's higher education community. Through presentation decks, links, examples, open resources and discussion, we’ll share pointed design and implementation tools and pragmatic tips you can put to work within your organization immediately. Take back your valuable time and energy. Eliminate processes and protocols no longer serving your needs. Join the discussion and walk away with expert guidance and tools for building better next steps in Sustainable Sector Partnering between education and industry.  Strategically Pave Partnership Pathways leading to meaningful, cooperative, sustainable relationships.
