We share our open course development process that supports flexible and experiential learning, which is discipline-independent by design to support the widest variety of faculty, embedding experiential learning practices throughout, with feedback specific to each participant. We use a MOOC design framework to ensure global accessibility compliance, and adherence to multicultural design practice standards.
An open course development project currently in-process will be shared with participants of this session. The course will become available for global access at the start of 2022 and the development team would like to share the processes used within our open course development that supports flexible and experiential learning. The course will be discipline-independent by design to support the widest variety of faculty, by embedding experiential learning practices throughout, with feedback specific to each participant. The team will use a massively open online course (MOOC) design framework to ensure global accessibility compliance, and adherence to multicultural design practice standards.
The project team strongly believes the greatest benefit of this course will be that faculty participants can take the best resources and experiences from this course and apply them to the design and structures of their own courses. This discovery session intends to make these transparent.
Relevance: The session will be most relevant to those who expanded their digital teaching and learning space usage in 2020. The session will also benefit administrators, and deans who are planning on improved program level practices in technology-enabled teaching and learning, and those who seek to add faculty development but have limited budget/development personnel.
Interactivity: Participants will brainstorm critical structures which positively impact learning and teaching through digital spaces. All participants will also explore development methods which produce micro and embedded coaching opportunities within technology-enabled teaching and learning.
All participants will leave having thought pragmatically about critical online structures which have a positive impact on teaching and learning (in blended and/or online courses/programs), and with directions to access a massively open course which provides a deep dive into these practices. The massively open course development process will be introduced within the session so this model is also provided for participants to follow if they choose to open up one of their own faculty development courses or programs.
