App economy is on a rise! Building an app is a fun, creative, and an exploratory process, unlike its conventional image of being branded as purely tech-savvy. Teaching the app economy courses through a creative lens will add holistic value to the learning experience.
Apps are gradually gaining economic and consumer trends. Mobile apps form an important platform of communication for both the consumers and business; solving or offering services from boredom to health tracking. Apart from its usefulness, an app sets an advertising medium for all stakeholders; can be either a cause or catalyst for a business.
Worldwide consumer spending in mobile apps is projected to reach $171 billion by 2024, which is more than double the $85 billion from 2019. This total, however, is about $3 billion (or 2%) less than the forecast the firm had released prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. By 2024, downloads will reach 183.7 billion, up 9% from the earlier forecast that came out before COVID-19 that had initially accounted for 7 billion fewer installs.
A conventional form of teaching apps in (business or technology) courses, focuses purely on the coding skills. Coding is an essential skills, not only for employability, but also to foster linear and logical thinking process. While coding is often associated and synonymous with heavy coding skills, there is also an in-depth creative aspect.
The session will provide a fun-learning environment for educators to teach building apps from a creative lens. The creative lens will utilize use of tools, such as, Sketches app, and Keynote to enhance app creativity, building on the no code to low code philosophy.
Level of Participation:
The session is structured as a discussion to share the best practices of using technology tools in higher education. Following the introduction, all attendees will get a brief preview of the no code to low code philosophy of teaching app building. All attendees will get material to work on the same.
