Attendees will learn about the joint project between Muzzy Lane Software and Educational Design labs to certify critical thinking skills. Attendees will see the Learning Objectives, how they were mapped, and then get to play the activity and answer questions. The discussion will conclude with a critique as well as how this approach could address other real-world skills gap challenges.
To address the workforce skills training gap, Education Design Labs(EDL) offers an existing Critical Thinking badge, as well as other skills. Muzzy Lane partnered with EDL to create a capstone in which students can practice a complex scenario and receive feedback about steps they implemented or failed to implement and ultimately be assessed on their critical thinking ability.
Attendees will get a 10-minute overview of the above, along with sharing of extensive LO's and skills mapping followed by a brief Q&A before a link is shared and everyone will be asked to take dive in and "Save the Museum". As students, they will play the role of a higher contractor to help launch an upcoming event. But will that save the museum? Attendees will play for about 15 minutes where non-spoiler dialog will be encouraged as well as questions or observations about the emotional response of practicing this combination of soft skills and critical thinking skills. (They will have access to the link after attending as well).
After everyone has had a chance to gain a better understanding of what it is like to experience the activity, we want to change to a Q&A session where attendees might offer responses to other people's questions. The goal for everyone will be to gain a better understanding of how effective role playing can be for complex workforce skills, and get everyone looking forward to participating and contributing to the next generation of educational simulation tools.
