Who are "at-risk" students?

Abstract: 

This session explores the characteristics of "at-risk" adult learners in higher education. A workable definition of "at-risk" will be discussed as well as an examination of the typcial indicators that a student may be in danger of failing or dropping a class. The session also seeks to explain why these students present such risk factors as well as delve into a discussion of who at the institution is ultimately responsible for retaining these students and helping them get back on track.  Examples of at-risk student situations are presented and participants will have the opportunity to formulate actions plans for student success.
