We’ll learn to use the revolutionary visual planning tool, Learning Environment Modeling™, that equips educators to innovate learning and create learning experiences that promote attainment of learning outcomes.
This interactive, experiential session provides participants the opportunity to learn the basics of Learning Environment Language™ (LEM™), an international award winning visual design and planning technique. LEM™ provides learning designers a common language comprised of graphics and is astonishingly easy to learn and easy to use for planning engaging, innovative learning experiences that support successful attainment of learning outcomes in any environment—academic or corporate, online, blended or in-person. This one-of-its-kind, tangible visualization technique is comprised of four primary features: five building blocks, four contexts, three actions, and two notations. These components can be assembled in infinite configurations to represent any imaginable learning experience.
The easily rearranged, quickly identifiable building blocks make instructional planning fun and engaging. Intentional, strategic, coordinated implementation of LEM™ helps learning professionals make smart design decisions that ensure effective, interactive, quality learning experiences that promote the attainment of lesson objectives. Moreover, LEM™ is ideal for creating effective and engaging informal, supplemental learner support experiences that compliment formal learning and further promote learner success and increase attainment of learning objectives.
In this hands-on session, we’ll experience the ease of becoming proficient in LEM™ and begin putting our new skills into action. Participants will learn to create a blueprint—a model—for learning experiences using this fun design technique and will learn to “speak” the language of LEM™. We’ll discover the ability of LEM™ to accelerate planning, increase efficiency, and prevent common obstacles and frustrations inherent in communication among individuals who bring different skill levels and backgrounds to design projects. Attendees will enjoy practicing LEM™ under the guidance of a Certified Learning Environment Architect who is proficient in Learning Environment Modeling Language, the language of LEM™, and works with the Institute for Learning Environment Design where this innovative technique was created. Together, we will learn and practice using this unique, innovative visual design tool and discover how it enhances our understanding of learning experiences, helps us make smart learning experience design decisions, and empowers us to lead learning innovation in our organizations.
