All digital content - websites, presentations, emails, videos, etc - must be ADA compliant whether they are course-related, administrative, or public. We created a campus-wide program to train all faculty and staff to use heading structures, alternative text, and other elements of accessible design based on the type of content they typically create.
The program is comprised of three required modules to lay the foundation for accessible content followed by targeted modules designed to ensure participants develop the skills necessary to independently create accessible documents, presentations, flyers, videos, LMS content, tables, and emails. Learners submit an accessible product for their capstone project to complete their requirements, earning a digital star.
This professional development opportunity is available in face-to-face mini-workshops and as online, asynchronous modules. OLC attendees will learn about the overall structure of the program, the learning outcomes, and the content so that they can develop a similar program for their campuses.
