Extended Abstract:

Have you ever wondered what instructional designers (IDs) do and how they can help faculty with their online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses? If so, this session is for you! This session will also summarize and synthesize research about the role of IDs in the course development process, and discuss methods for reducing conflict between faculty and IDs in order to enhance collaboration.

At the end of this interactive session, you will be able to: define the role of an instructional designer (ID), learn about the benefits of collaborating with an ID on your online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses, identify conflicts that may interfere with productive collaboration between faculty and IDs, and discuss ways to improve collaboration between faculty and IDs.
