One ubiquitous challenge within higher education remains the need for connected networks of practitioners working together to share knowledge and resources. The MERLOT peer review process is designed to support educators as they select OER for their classes. However, an ancillary benefit is the opportunity to build community and collegiality in a digitally-connected universe. MERLOT's editorial boards are discipline based, linking together educators from a variety of institutions and roles. These connections form the basis of intentional professional learning networks, where members share practices and approaches to solving common challenges within online learning. This session will place a spotlight on the faces of MERLOT, sharing stories of the rich experiences that individuals have had in the review process.
In this highly personalized Discovery Session, participants will learn more about the MERLOT peer review process as a method for building community and collaboration. They will receive new approaches and techniques for leveraging open educational resources (OER) to prepare for the next generation of educational leaders.
