Come learn how ASU Online uses data analytics to determine course health and identify course enhancement opportunities. During this discussion we'll share course quality assurance iniatives used to improve student success that rely on data for hundreds of online courses each session.
Two major factors that impact course quality are course design and instructor facilitation. This session will share three initiatives used to increase course quality at ASU Online. The discussion will include (1) ASU Online faculty expectations, which include expectations related to course design, development and practices for teaching online; (2) ASU's 360° course health tool that leverages data including pass rates, withdrawals, course evals, and other data to identify courses in poor health or those that may benefit from an intervention; and (3) ASU's course revision and instructor training that relies on the 360 analytics. Participants will learn how to use analytics to strategically identify needed course enhancements, assess the overall health of a course and prioritize the use of limited resources to offer course revisions and instructor trainings. At the end of the session participants will be invited to share their thoughts on course quality and which other indicators can provide insight into the health of an online course.
