In addition to learning specific skills to develop as a writer, you'll also have the chance to connect with a community of writers who can help support your future writing work.

- Why Write: Writer and Higher Educator Karen Costa will share the story of her writing journey, pointing out lessons that she learned along the way.
- Generating Ideas: Using a variety of strategies including freewriting and brainstorming, you'll generate a list of at least five ideas that you can start writing about today.
- Self-Editing: Learn how to polish your work prior to submission.
- Query Letters: Examine examples of winning query letters that you can use as a model.
- Identifying Ideal Publications for Submission: Access information on higher education publications accepting submissions. Learn how to best position yourself for acceptance and get tips on building positive relationships with editors.
