Extended Abstract:

Many online and face-to-face classes require student term papers and online discussion forums. Students may, however, demonstrate their understanding in ways that can be more engaging and creative while increasing long-term retention of knowledge. In this hands-on interactive session, participants will explore and experiment with a variety of tools that can be used by students to literally "show what they know" by creating digital posters, infographics, and/or collages as authentic assessment, and further, to share them with an authentic audience.

Participants will work in pairs or small groups to try various web tools and discuss what type of digital project might best work to demonstrate student master of their specific learning outcomes.

Participants will be provided with the URL to a resource page of Web 2.0 tools, sample assignments, and informative articles to help sustain the exploration.
