This interactive presentation will focus on how Colorado Technical University's online business programs are aligned programmatically to the requirements provided by professional organizations such as SHRM and PMI. As an integrated part of our curriculum, this innovation provides opportunities for students and faculty to engage professionally beyond the classroom.
Colorado Technical University uses a combination of innovative technologies in our online College of Business and Management. Our virtual campus provides a wealth of resources to CTU’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students throughout the world in the field of business. Integral to our business programs are our professional alignments. CTU strives to provide industry relevant education to our students. By partnering with professional organizations in the field of business, CTU’s business programs are able to encourage students to engage beyond the classroom, become involved more closely with their field of study, and prepare for their career.
This discovery session will provide audience members with a unique, hands-on opportunity to explore how CTU’s professional alignments drive our business programs. Likewise, they will be able to discuss how these innovations can be used to expand upon this concept, learn how CTU’s professional alignments encourage professional development among faculty, and see the positive educational impact CTU’s professional alignments have on our students. The presentation will highlight alignments with the Society for Human Resource Management and Project Management Institute, which are both part of the many engagement-focused disciplines included in CTU’s College of Business and Management.
The professional alignment programs currently focus on assessment and review of CTU’s resources and curriculum. They include integrating professional competencies designed to inspire student critical thinking and creativity in their field of study. Participants will be provided an overview of how these professional alignments are conducted. The discovery session will conclude with a description of how other institutions might develop professional alignments using similar types of resources or other organizations.
