Extended Abstract:

Faculty members’ roles can change dramatically within the framework of CBE programs. In this interactive presentation, we will share Lipscomb University’s journey from a traditional faculty model to an unbundled Faculty Fellows model for our online CBE program. We will share the “why” behind the shift, the implementation of faculty supports, and the powerful connection to student support, success, and retention. We will discuss the critical role that faculty play in personalized learning, assessing student learning, and coaching to encourage student success. Practical tips for addressing the barriers and roadblocks through a new Faculty Fellows model will be provided. You will gain insights as to how you can engage faculty and ensure that they are comfortable both teaching and supporting students in this new online model.

In this presentation, we will

*Identify common barriers and challenges to the traditional faculty model.

*Brainstorm ways to address those barriers in the context of their own institution.

*Discuss best practices in faculty support especially within the online CBE framework.

*Connect student support, success, and retention to a redefined faculty role.
