This session will focus on technologies and workflows involved in the transformation of Images (ie. .gif and .jpg files) and digital photos into .png and .stl files for 3-printing enablement. Viewing these files, as .stl and .png files, allows for unique perspectives of images, and could lead to innovations in fields such as Bio-Engineering, Genetics, Architecture and Geology, to name a few.
The session will cover, the transformation process of Images and photos into .stl files. Audience members will leave with a greater understanding of the 3-d printing process and more importantly, how these transformed files allow users to view photos and images in entirely new ways. Better understanding these processes could benefit students and educators in fields such as Biology, Chemistry and the Arts.
