Abstract:

Integrations aid in meeting quality standards for an exceptional student experience. See examples of integrations and how to become involved in the implementation process.

Extended Abstract:

Today's hybrid and online course designs must meet high standards to achieve positive student outcomes. To do this faculty members and instructional designers must work to meet a set numbers of standards. In order to do this, some professionals use quality design standards such as the OLC Quality Scorecard.

The role of faculty in the implementation of academic integration technology tools such as eBooks, software, tutoring, and retention services to their Learning Management System is often unclear or overlooked in technical environments.  Ultimately, faculty are not only users but also pseudo business analysts and subject matter experts who recognize the tools that best promote learning objectives, course goals, and ensure student success.  As SMEs, they will take an active role from start to finish to ensure these academic tools reach production and implementation. It is important that institutions have a set process on how academic integration technology tools are chosen and integrated in the hybrid and online classes.

During this session, administrators will share how they choose, leverage, test, and support the process and use academic integration technology tools to create powerful e-learning ecosystems. Administrators will demonstrate tools used in their course designs and explain how they meet the standards.

The goals of the session are to address the following topics, share knowledge of best practices, and provide solutions to those seeking assistance for incorporating powerful integrations into their learning management systems that meet quality design standards:
1) Provide attendees with an understanding of the implementation process for integrations into the learning management system.
2) Sensitize attendees to the ways in which integrations support meeting quality design standards.
3) Assess the usefulness of tools such as the Quality Scorecard provided by OLC.
4) Demonstrate useful integrations for student success.

Participants will interact with the presenters using interactive web means and will walk away with a web link to presentation take aways.
