Extended Abstract:

The California State University (CSU) funds and coordinates an extensive affordable course materials’ program amongst its 23 campuses.  As a result, students are currently saving over $35 million dollars a year.  The project encourages campus-led advocacy including awareness, discovery, and adoption of low and no cost course materials within the faculty by providing project management and rich resources to encourage faculty workshops, stipends for release time, a faculty ambassador program, faculty recognition events, and annual meeting for collaboration and sharing of successful implementation strategies.  This session will provide real-life examples of such successful activities and will share practical ideas, best practices, and toolkits for any institution interested in creating and/or expanding their course materials’ program. Learn effective and creative strategies that can be replicated on your campus.
