Want to make the printed word engaging? Want to make course work interactive? Learn how move student reading attitudes from frustration to fascination with interactive print applications. With these applications, reading becomes innovative and engaging even in the online environment. Videos and augmented reality come together with print to capture the reader’s interest.
Session Topic
It's disheartening to spend hours designing and preparing an online course only to have students skip over massive amounts of information because they don't want to read the text. Even though 21st Century learners have access to more information than ever before, they miss important content in informational text. "I don't like to read" is the standard student response to the standard educator question, "Didn't you read it?"
Technology now offers us interactive print applications and web tools that will move your students’ apathetic attitude toward reading from uninterested to energetic. Integrating these technologies into the online environment is easy because many apps are user friendly. Interactive print applications can be used in assignment design as well as information delivery. You are only limited by your imagination.
Level of Participation
There are two segments to this session: 1) presenting an overview of interactive print and interactive print applications and tools. 2) Participant interaction with applications including example demonstration of applications used in the online environment; discussion, brainstorming, and question/answer are included with application demonstrations.
