This session will introduce a robust, cloud based project management tool. Participants are encouraged to register for a free account prior to the session. During the session participants will create a sample project exposing them to the many tools and integrations available to help keep their projects on time and on budget.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Create a new project in Teamwork
- Create task templates to facilitate consistency
- Track time on task and create project reports
- Create “invoices” based on time on task
- Customize dashboards to view a comprehensive overview of active projects.
One of the biggest responsibilities of a project manager is to deliver projects on time and on budget. One of the biggest problems I have encountered as I began managing projects developing courses for online delivery was keeping track of all the moving pieces. Managing multiple stakeholders, vendors, and task lists can be a cumbersome and often stress inducing experience. When managing my first large scale, multi-vendor instructional design project I struggled with the best way to keep track of all the tiny little pieces that needed to be tracked to keep the project on time and on budget. File sharing and storage was complex as the various vendors all had different levels of access to the tools we used.
Over the course of the next several projects, I tried any number of ways to manage course development projects – GoogleTeamDrive, GoogleSheets, Freedcamp, Trello, and others. All had benefits and drawbacks, and none of them provided a comprehensive solution. During a conversation with an outside vendor about project management and the struggles we had, they mentioned a cloud based solution they were using called “Teamwork”.
Teamwork provides a comprehensive project management environment that enables all stakeholders to have a detailed view of a project. Its intuitive interface allows for easy project creation and task management. Time on task is easily tracked and that time on task can be converted into project health reports and/or invoices. Project assets can be uploaded directly into the system or linked in from GoogleDrive. Additionally, it integrates with many other widely used third party communication systems such as SLACK.

Advanced features such as billing, templates, and third-party integration will be introduced.
