Online Teaching: Competency Based Education in Modular Structure: Assessment and Impact

Abstract: 

A small group of competencies were identified by faculty as necessary to be effective online.  Modules were built using an effective formula of pre-assessment, content, practice, and post-assessment.  The CBE style of delivery along with the modular construction of the curriculum.  This presentation will explore correlation between the faculty training and faculty satisfaction of the training. 

Extended Abstract: 

A number of online teaching competencies were identified by surveyed faculty.  These faculty were experienced in online teaching and surveyed to compile the list.  Then modules were constructed with similar formulas, and were constructed modularly to ensure reusability.  Faculty consumed the training and then completed a survey once they had achieved mastery of the competency.  This presentation will go over the chosen curricular path, the construction map of the modules, the assessment results, and the survey results.  Data will be used to draw conclusions to foster discussion on faculty online training content and methods.
