Formative classroom assessment techniques (CATs) are not widely embedded in online courses. Within this session, the presenters will share our practical applications of implementing online CATs in undergraduate and graduate online courses while simultaneously providing a platform to discuss the current role and future direction of online CATs.
Approach and Presentation Outline: Through this session, the presenters will share their experience with a pilot project implementing online classroom assessment techniques in online undergraduate and graduate courses. This session will systematically and progressively address the fundamental elements of classroom assessment techniques in alignment with our project while allowing ample time for open informal interactions, dialogue, and discussion. Our content outline includes:
- Definition and description of the original, face-to-face classroom assessment techniques
- Benefits and barriers to online classroom assessment technique implementation
- The presenters' experience implementing online classroom techniques in undergraduate and graduate online courses
