Extended Abstract:

Project management is an essential part of successful instructional design that involves many individuals including instructional designers, faculty, librarians, accessibility coordinators, administrators, and educational technologies. At SUNY Empire State College, we have various tools that we use to manage our projects to make the process more transparent, efficient, and collaborative. Some project management tools that we use are Trello, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Slack. In addition, several other project management tools will be presented. In this presentation, we will:

  • discuss free project management tools,

  • explain how we use them, and

  • describe advantages and disadvantages of each tool.

Participants who attend this presentation will leave with a list of tools that can be easily adopted for managing projects no matter how small or big they are. They will also gain an insight into importance of project management in instructional design.
