Is the prospect of fires, earthquakes, floods, blizzards, perhaps even protests and how you'll keep classes running during these times keeping you awake at night? Find out how you can not only face these challenges but also raise awareness of the value of technology-enhanced instruction at the same time.
While all faculty may not be sold on the value of online or blended instruction one issue that can help them dip their toe into the pond of technology-enhanced instruction is that of class continuity. Class can be interrupted or class accessibility be jeopardized for any number of reasons. An instructor may be out of town for a conference or family illness. A sudden fire, flood or snowstorm may preclude your students from getting to campus or even shutting down the campus. You may face an unusual event such as "Free Speech Week" and all that entails as UC Berkeley did.
There are numerous reasons why every course now needs a class continuity strategy that can help education withstand natural disasters and societal turmoil. This session discusses how to develop the strategy, provide resources for it and use it to raise awareness of the concept and value of technology-enhanced instruction.
