A discussion about the current state of adoption and use of alternative learning in higher education and a vision for a future for education that embraces and experiments with alternative credentialing where form, function and providers are aligned in a way that best services the learner.
Digital badges, MicroMasters, Nanodegrees, Certificates, Prior Learning and Alternative Credentials – Are there benefits to students and how should stakeholders think strategically about the promise of alternative learning? Is the degree being unbundled? Is your institution ready to recognize or even partner in changing how we see, accept, and award credentials? Who needs to be at the table to facilitate a new world order for alternative credentials.
This session will examine the potential benefits and survey the landscape of alternative learning. This Education Session will focus on how we best serve the interests of learners, particularly our higher education students, in assuring the quality of alternative learning experiences. Viewpoints include those involved in academic innovation, learning analytics, strategic planning with micro-credentials, and the campus registrar.
