Extended Abstract:

Have you ever wondered how people navigate an online course and interact with its contents? Are your online courses designed with their users in mind?  User experience (UX) and service design are two intersdisciplinary approaches focused on improving the experience, engagement, and satisfaction of users. Improving the experience of students and instructors is critical for creating effective, efficient, and intuitive online learning environments.  To achieve this, course designers must ensure all interactions are mapped, make sense, and can be easily understood.  In addition, they must ensure that the course’s visual design is clear.  In this workshop, participants will learn how to apply concepts and tools of user experience (UX) and service design – such as heuristic evaluations and journey maps – to analyze and improve user experience in online courses.
