UTRGV Blueprinting Process: Our quality assurance process for Online Programs

Abstract: 

To quality in online programs, The Universirt of Texas Rio Grande Valley faculty must participate in our blueprinting process. During the process faculty go over our 6 module-13 week course in which they learn the concepts of designing a quality online course and learn strategies and best practices in online teaching

Extended Abstract: 

In the Fall 2015, two existing institutions merged into one and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley came into existence. With the transition of two legacy schools becoming to a new university, many university policies were provisional and in a transition from our legacy institutions. In the new revamped and award winning Blueprinting Process faculty go over our 6 module-13 week course in which faculty learn the concepts of designing a quality online course and learn strategies and best practices in online teaching. The process focuses on mapping the course level and module level objective and ensuring that those objectives address the program goals. Accessibility, Copy-Rights and online technologies are also covered in the process.   Faculty also must attend live or virtual meetings, review lesson materials that contains self-assessments. Each module contains discussions forums that provide faculty the opportunity to share ideas with peers and seek advice. At the same time faculty have to submit artifacts that will be part of their designed course. As faculty are going to the blueprinting process, they are working on developing their first course with in the program. The presentation will be an interactive session in which participants will be able to share their processes and expiries regarding quality in online education. Session will also include a Q&A Session.
