Extended Abstract:
Have you ever learned of a new exciting piece of educational technology and said, “That would be perfect!” but then for one reason or another, never follow through or give up on integrating that tech in your course, maybe because you felt it would be too difficult for instructors and students to learn and implement? This is because new ed tech is released at an incredibly fast pace, and often it’s difficult to keep up with what’s new, let alone how to get it up and running inside your course. Enter the Collaborative Integration Process for New Ed Tech developed by the Center for Instructional Innovation at Brandman University! This process is designed to help the course developer and the instructional designer working together, to take new ed tech opportunities and see them through to full course integration. The process has four stages: Discover, Discuss, Develop and Distribute. And the process varies slightly, depending on the complexity level of the new technology.
