What’s the difference between a learning experience that’s effective versus one that gets forgotten? We introduce a technique for prototyping technology-enhanced learning using a framework of design-oriented pedagogy that leads to learning that sticks with the learner. This process encourages co-design, participatory learning and technology redefinition to create a rich educational experience.
What’s the difference between a learning experience that’s effective versus one that gets forgotten? In this Innovation Lab Session, we introduce a technique for prototyping technology-enhanced learning using a framework of design-oriented pedagogy that leads to learning that sticks with the learner. Expanding on the principles of design thinking, this process encourages co-design, participatory learning and technology redefinition to inform the selection of an appropriate solution to a learning need to create a rich educational experience.
Overall Session Objective
- Engage a diverse group of educators in using a design thinking based process to drive the selection of appropriate, innovative technology tools to solve a learning need.
Session Learning Outcomes
- Using a replicable process and template, participants will break into small groups and use divergent thinking to discuss a range of provocative solutions to a crowd-generated learning need.
- Participants will convey a high-level summary of the findings from small group explorations.
- Participants will use reconvene in small groups and use convergent thinking and constraints to decide on a possible solution to the learning need.
- A co-development process supported by technology tools will be used to create a sketched or interactive prototype for others to adapt, integrate and develop further after the session.
Process artifacts and prototypes will be showcased on the resource website along with a selection of related tools.
