Abstract:

I have found a way to connect with students by sharing my professional career examples to the content they are learning in their MSW and BSW degrees.  This allows for integration of curriculum to real life social work practice.  In doing this it elicits conversations about content and practice work for students and allows for connections to the instructor.

Extended Abstract:

A main goal of online teaching is to allow for connection with students and their instructors. I have found a way to connect with students by sharing my professional career examples to the content they are learning in their MSW and BSW degrees.  This allows for integration of curriculum to real life social work practice.  In doing this it elicits conversations about content and practice work for students and allows for connections to the instructor.

My evaluations from students have increased since incorporating these micro lectures in all my classes. I provide one a week. Not only do students feel connected to me; but the information allows for the real life application of the context they are learning.

Being up to date and having these lectures is a huge benefit to me in providing an online presence in my classes. They are also engaging and promote conversations.

Teaching the basic ideas and concepts to other professionals so they can incorporate in their teaching.

This seminar will allow participants to hear about different options, how to practice and record their own micro lectures.  It will also go over how to integrate into their classes.
