The on-site HBCU summit will focus on strategies, actions, and outcomes for HBCUs providing quality online education that prioritizes student success. The summit topics will include:
- HBCU leadership in the design and implementation of virtual immersive learning environments for accelerating skills and motivations for learning,
- Multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary strategies for building a free and open collection of teaching and learning resources that is culturally relevant for Africana students,
- National programs for digital equity and economic inclusion that fosters financial literacy and the diversification of the banking and wealth management industry sector,
- How COVID pandemic has challenged HBCUs to innovate in online education and the emerging strategies for institutional success,
- “Discussion not Presentation” about strategies for strengthening HBCU institutional collaboration through consortium initiatives that support the development of leadership and organizational capabilities, and more.
Each topic will not only share the exciting work of HBCUs in these areas but will also be an invitation for HBCUs to participate in these initiatives. This summit is open to all registered onsite (All Access Pass) conference participants and we encourage any of the HBCUs in the United States to participate.

Summit Theme:
Building institutional capacities for innovation in online education requires a multi-stakeholder institutional strategy. The summit topics will showcase HBCU multi-stakeholder strategies:
1. TSU SMART Innovation Center Team for the Immersive Virtual Learning Environments
- Present TSU work in Academic eSports, TSU facilities, focus on skills developed by students with gaming, motivation, and engagement of students, etc.
- Describe how TSU building a free and open collection of Immersive Virtual Learning Environment resources in MERLOT.
- Invite people to use and contribute materials to the collection with the goal of reporting back next year at INNOVATE.

2. Building the HBCU AL$ culturally relevant collection to accelerate culturally relevant instruction.
- Present the cultural collection, describe the meanings of cultural relevance and its specific application to the Africana community (Gloria Ladson-Billings’ work), the rationale and strategies used to build the collection to date.
- Describe the uses of the resources to enable faculty to augment courses with Africana-relevant resources related to academic content, pedagogy, and assessment.
- Invite people to use and contribute materials to the collection and next year at INNOVATE show the progress.

3. The US Federal Government is implementing a $1+billion federal program for digital equity and economic inclusion. The National Collaborative for Digital Equity is facilitating organizations, institutions, industries, and individuals to participate in this exceptional program.
- Present the info about the $1+billion federal program for digital equity and economic inclusion,
- Describe the opportunities for HBCUs and other MSIs to contribute to and participate in the grant programs by coordinating with state agencies.
- Invite HBCUs to register for NCDE Inclusion Junction directory to network with others as state agencies prepare their state plans for the federal program

- Invite people to reach out to the HBCU AL$ community, participate in our webinars and programs, and connect with members of HBCU community
- Presentation by HBCU Student Services leader on strategies for engaging and developing personal growth and leadership skills of HBCU students.
- Invite other HBCUs to share their programs and join their network.
- Presentation highlighting healthcare inequities and the HBCU programs networking to eliminate equities.
- Invite other HBCUs to share their programs and join their network.
